Guild Solutions Inc. (GSI) continues to champion future-ready talent development as Ian Panoncillo, GSI’s Head of Technology & Modernisation, took the stage as a keynote speaker at the CS Expo of FEU Institute of Technology on 18 March 2026.

Held as part of the institution’s annual Computer Science Expo, the event gathered students, faculty, and industry professionals for a day of innovation, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing. CS Expo is a flagship academic initiative where graduating Computer Science students showcase their thesis projects—demonstrating real-world applications across fields such as software engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies.

Beyond being a student showcase, the expo serves as a bridge between academia and industry, featuring keynote talks and guest speakers who provide insights into the evolving demands of the technology landscape.

Aligning Education with Industry Realities

During his session titled “Aligning Curriculum with Industry Needs,” Ian shared valuable perspectives on how educational institutions can better prepare students for the workforce. While technical expertise remains important, he emphasised that success in today’s environment increasingly depends on strong soft skills.

He highlighted three critical traits that set candidates apart:

  • People skills – the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively
  • Coachability – openness to feedback and continuous learning
  • Courage – the willingness to take initiative and navigate uncertainty

Drawing from years of experience and firsthand observation, Ian notes that these qualities are often the differentiators in hiring and career progression, especially in fast-evolving industries where adaptability is key.

Building Confidence and the Right Mindset

Beyond skills, Ian encouraged students to balance confidence with humility and show up with a positive mindset. He underscored that technical knowledge can be taught, but mindset—how individuals approach challenges, feedback, and growth—plays a defining role in long-term success.

His message resonated strongly with attendees, reinforcing the idea that preparing for the future of work requires both competence and character.

Driving Future-Ready Talent

GSI’s participation in CS Expo 2026 reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting academic institutions and nurturing the next generation of professionals. By sharing industry insights and engaging directly with students, GSI helps ensure that emerging talent is not only technically capable but also equipped with the mindset needed to thrive.

As industries continue to evolve, collaborations like these remain vital in shaping a workforce that is adaptable, resilient, and truly future-ready.
